Change some massive indents to use guard!() pattern

Reactions can be either a unicode character (e.g. 👾) or a discord custom emoji. This function converts both types to a string so they can be dealt with interchangeably.

This also involves changing ownership details in the config struct due to differing ownership strictness in the yaml deserializer.
